Well I finally finished painting the tags on my advent calendar. I know it’s long after Christmas but I wanted to finish this and I did it so now I’m posting the results. The first picture is the overall effect and the rest are closeups to see better detail.

well I’ve been painting in fits and spurts but this is the consolidated post showing all my progress thus far.
Now my main problems are coming up with ideas for new designs and having the time to paint them.

Here is a picture of the tags I’ve painted so far. Over all I like the way they are coming out and I’m looking forward to seeing what Susan paints.

Here is my first test painting on a tag. Partly I wanted to see how it would look, partly I wanted to see if I could do it with my injured finger. (A kitchen accident took the tip off my pointer) Anyway, here is the result.

I just finished painting all the numbers on the tags. After the paint has dried for a few days I can begin painting things on the back side of the tags.

So I’ve finally decided on how to do the numbering on my tags. Oh I also added the hooks and drilled the tags. Here is a shot of my work and a closeup of the progress.

Well this being December first I think it’s the perfect time to work on my home made advent calendar. I found this cool project board at Michaels and designed on the computer the layout. When I’m done I’ll have 48 hooks in it and 24 tags. Every day a numbered tag comes off the side and flips over to be an ornament on the tree. The tree swoops are painted with oil paint but I’m not sure how to do the tags. I don’t have the control to do fine detail in oil, so I may use markers or something for the tags.
