Today Rosie had a tea party for her birthday in our backyard. It was lots of fun! The kids helped decorate, and there was lots of yummy food. At one point towards the end of the morning they decided to take all of the balloons into Alice’s playhouse. Eight kids plus a lot of balloons is a tight fit in there!
I didn’t take any pictures this morning, but here are some from about a month ago when Rosie was over at our house.

Now thank we all our God
with hearts and hands and voices
Who wondrous things hath done
In whom the world rejoices
Who from our mother’s arms
Has blessed us on our way
With countless gifts of love
That still are ours today.
I remember still my amazement as the Millers, John and Helen and Wendell and Frances, sang this song as their prayer for dinner. To my 12-year old self it was amazing that a song could be used in place of a spoken prayer. Plus, I think they sang in harmony! Or maybe not, maybe that was some other time.
Mr. John Miller was my music teacher for the 3 years we were in Nairobi, Kenya. As well as teaching music for grades K – 9th, he ran the drama department, choirs, handbells. His daughter, Frances, was my best friend.
Mr. Miller was just diagnosed with an aggressive type of brain tumor. Part of the tumor was removed, but the diagnosis is not good. My thoughts and prayers linger with them. Please pray.
How shall we sing the Lord’s song
In a strange and bitter land?
Can our voices veil the sorrow?
Lord God hold your holy band.
